Qurban is the act of sacrificing livestock such as camels, cows, and goats during the celebration of Eid al-Adha, which falls on the 10th of Zulhijjah (immediately after Eid al-Adha prayer) and the following days known as Tasyrik which are the 11th, 12th, and 13th of Zulhijjah.
The ruling for performing the qurban is SUNAT MU’AKKADAH – which is a highly recommended act to do.
It is not encouraged to perform the Qurban on someone who has passed away, except based on the will (Wasiat) that was made by the deceased person.
Yes, with the intention of educating the child to perform it and (at the same time), parents should guide the child to make the intention (niat) for the qurban.
The sacrifice of one (1) part of a cow is only for one (1) participant. However, the participant is required to intend (pray) to share the reward of the sacrifice with other family members.
It is allowed, but it is necessary to inform the person so that they can have the intention (niat) for the Qurban.
For example: If a child performs the Qurban for their parents who are in the village, then the parents must have the intention so that the Qurban ritual is complete.
The representation agreement is necessary for individuals who delegate the execution of the Qurban to the organizers of the urban program. However, the representation agreement can also be sufficient with the intention (niat) of the Qurban participant.
If the debt is a long-term financial commitment such as home or car instalments, it is not considered as the type of debt that would prevent someone from performing the Qurban. However, if the debt is so heavy that the person is unable to buy food or basic necessities, then there is no need for them to perform the Qurban.
It is not encouraged, because the meat is dedicated to the act of worship.
It is recommended to not cut nails and trim hair before the Qurban. It is also recommended to make du’a starting from the 1st of Zulhijjah until the Qurban is performed
Yes, it depends on their ability.
Yes, it is necessary because Muslims are encouraged to perform the Korban ritual every year.
The Qurban ritual is performed at your own place (qariah), you slaughter the sacrificial animal, witness the sacrifice (represented) and distribute the meat by you. The best sacrificial animal is the one with the most meat. The best sacrificial animals are camels, followed by cows and goats.
Yes, it is allowed. If the time for performing the Qurban is approaching, it is better to perform the Qurban ritual first because the time for the sacrificial ritual can only be performed on the 10th to 13th of Zulhijjah each year. On the other hand, the Aqiqah can be performed at any time throughout the year. If capable, both can be performed together.
